I’ve shot photographs in so many beautiful locations, but nothing compares to the charm of this little island town. Thanks to a canal that separates it from the rest of New Jersey, Cape May feels like its own world. The tree-lined streets, the stunning Victorian homes, and the way the golden-hour light bounces off the ocean make it feel like a dreamy little secret. Cape May has been a vacation destination for centuries, and you can feel that history everywhere you go. It’s nothing like the crowded, commercialized boardwalk towns. You won’t find chain stores here, and the pace is slow and intentional. Instead, there are cozy boutiques, antique shops, and some of the best restaurants around. Whether I’m grabbing a quick bite after a session or treating myself to a sit-down dinner by the beach, I always find something new. Of course, I love watching the sunset over the bay, listening to the waves, and feeling that peacefulness settle in!

This timeless little corner of the world was perfect for sweet Gia. This girl is a voracious reader (the amount of books she reads rivals most adults I know!), and a determined dancer, and so we made sure to weave both of those things into her shoot. Although we had some significant wind that day, Gia made it look absolutely effortless, and I appreciated her sweet attitude and willingness to adapt.

One of my favorite things about senior sessions is when a sister or best friend tags along. There’s no extra charge to bring someone special, and honestly, I love it when you do. Having that familiar face nearby helps calm any nerves and makes the session feel more natural. Some of the best laughs, biggest smiles, and most genuine moments happen when you’re with someone who knows you best.If you do bring a friend or sister, I just ask for a little help behind the scenes. They might fluff your hair, fix a necklace, or hold a reflector to get the lighting just right. Sometimes, I’ll need an extra hand with my gear too. It’s nothing complicated, just small things that make a big difference. Plus, they get to be part of the fun, keeping the energy up and making sure you feel confident throughout the shoot…the ultimate hype-girl! As a thank you, I always snap a few shots of you together. Whether it’s a playful candid or a sweet posed moment, you’ll both leave with memories to share. Gia’s sister is a beauty (clearly it runs in the family!), and they were both so kind and fun to work with. I hope they love these memories together…sometimes, these are the last professional photos before a sibling heads to college and that makes them extra treasured.
